Collagen Induction Therapy / Microneedling

Collagen Induction Therapy, also known as microneedling or skin needling, is a non-invasive treatment that generates new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, more toned skin. During the procedure, your practitioner will make small pinpricks into the top layer of your skin with a mechanical pen-like tool. The tiny perforations signal the body’s natural healing response. This action stimulates the production of collagen and elastin which is needed to repair the skin. These pricks are so small that you are likely not to notice them after your procedure.
In addition to triggering your body’s healing response, these pinpricks act as tiny channels that allow products, applied to the surface, to penetrate deep into the skin and heal the effects of aging faster. The effect is thicker dermal and epidermal tissue with less creases, smoother color, and tighter pores. The result is smoother, firmer and younger looking skin.
Because this is a minimally invasive procedure, it is considered safe for most people who are in overall good health. Microneedling can be used to treat various scars, discoloration, wrinkles and pores almost anywhere on the body.

- Consultation - your practitioner will explain the procedure, discuss your skin goals, analyze your skin, and identify trouble areas
- Cleansing of the face, neck, and décolletage to remove excess dirt or make up (we recommend coming in with a clean face)
- Application of topical anesthetic before the procedure to minimize any discomfort
- Application of FACTORFIVE Regenerative Anti-Aging Serum* on the surface of the skin
- Use of a digital device and a sterile single-use needle cartridge to create microchannels in the skin
- Application of a Collagen Peptide Mask to give your skin additional collagen
- Application of anti-aging moisturizing cream

- Avoid direct sun exposure for 48 hours following the treatment.
- Avoid makeup application for at least 4 hours following the treatment.
- Avoid any acid-based products for 48 hours following the treatment (e.g. products with glycolic acid, retinol, and acidic skin care with "active" ingredients), as they thin the skin barrier and may cause irritation

What is collagen induction therapy?

How does collagen induction work?
- Microneedling works by encouraging your skin to make more collagen and elastin to heal your injured skin.
Is it the same as using a hand held Dermaroller?
- No. You should be wary of dermaroller needles being bent, dull, or not properly maintained. You run the risk of infection or damaging skin that can lead to scarring.
- Practitioners must be certified in Microneedling & Blood Borne Pathogens to complete this service.
How many treatments will I need?
- Generally a minimum of 3 treatments are required to achieve the optimum rejuvenation of a target area.
- Treatments on scars typically require 5-6 treatments.
- Skin takes time to heal. A lot of healing takes place underneath the skin and will take several sessions to be visibly apparent. However, you are able to physically touch and feel the difference with your fingers after the first treatment.
When will I see visible results?
- Results are gradual as collagen reproduction takes time, most clients report an improvement in their skin over a 6 - 8 week period.
- These improvements are compounded as each consecutive treatment is performed.
Are there any side effects?

Is there any down time?
- There is practically zero downtime. Redness may occur for a few hours following the treatment, but this is a completely normal and common response.
How long is the appointment?
- Each appointment usually takes 45 mins - 1 hour.
Can I bring a guest with me to my appointment?
- No, do to COVID-19 restrictions, we are unable to allow anyone to accompany you to the appointment.
What does the healing process look like?
- Your skin may appear slightly red after the treatment areas.
- Any redness should disappear in 24 hours.
- During the first week your skin will feel dry and flake. Do not pick your skin, this will affect the healing process and may cause scarring.
- Avoid direct sunlight on your skin for the first 7 days. If you need to go out, wear sunscreen and a hat to shade your skin.
- Avoid Retinol-A and Vitamin C products for 48 hours to promote healing.
- Make sure to keep your skin clean and moisturized.
- Add SPF to your daily skin care routine.
- Skin must stay hydrated during the entire healing process. Healing moisturizer is provided in your aftercare swag bag!
- To ensure optimal results, make sure to book your next appointment within 5-8 weeks of the initial appointment.
How do I prep for my appointment?
- Wash your face or procedure area before coming to your appointment.
- Come to your appointment without any product on the procedure area.
- Take care of the skin around the procedure area, we can not microneedle over active breakouts or open wounds.
Am I a good candidate for Collagen Induction Therapy?
Permanent makeup procedures cannot be preformed on individuals experiencing any of the following:
- Under the age of 18
- Pregnant or nursing
- Treatment is never performed on raised moles, warts, or open lesions (this skin will be worked around)
- Have diabetes
- Allergic to pigment or makeup
- Taking blood thinning medications
- Have skin diseases (e.g. eczema, psoriasis, rashes, blisters)
- Have transmittable blood conditions (e.g. HIV, Hepatitis)
- Have cancer or undergoing chemotherapy or radiation
- Taking accutane, antibiotics, iron supplements, more than 3 medications daily
- Open wounds on the treated area(s)
- Using retinol/AHA products (must stop 2 weeks prior and 4 weeks after PMU appointment)
- History of keloid scarring
- Have vitiligo
